So, this is my very simple poster design. The thing I feel about posters is that they should be simple. After all, the primary purpose of it is to convey a message. Simple designs are surprisingly more attractive that loud, noisy ones.
It took me quite a while to come up with what to save, what to kill or what to prevent. I got so deranged I wanted to do a poster that says "Kill Hi-Five" (they are so annoying). So I came up with this design after I saw a website attempting to save as many children as possible from child pornography. Then again, I wanted something close to home. I don't doubt that there might be cases of child pornography in Singapore but to what extent, I cannot be sure. Therefore, I chose to homeless children instead.
I got this image off Gettyimages. There was no alteration except for cropping out the watermark. It took me quite some time to figure out how to properly slice the picture up into even squares and finally figured, Thank God for Rulers.
The color for the poster was deliberately played down to less warm and more desolate. Yes, I made up the texts but I thought it was essential as it was the predominant call for action. The heading and subheading had to be big and attention grabbing, as much as the image has to.
So there, simple and very balance, I thought.
